DCSS is an acronym for the Department of Child Support Services. This government organization assists families in the establishment and enforcement of child support and medical support in an equitable and timely manner. More specifically, the DCSS will provide free services to locate a parent; establish paternity; establish, modify and enforce a court ordered child support; and establish, modify and enforce an order for health insurance coverage. DCSS does not represent either the custodial parent or the non-custodial parent. DCSS represents the interest of the minor child. Thus, it is important that you have representation in Child Support cases where DCSS is involved. It does not matter if you are the parent receiving child support or the parent paying child support, having an attorney to represent you is always beneficial to your case.
